Applies to: All user-generated content inside CourtIQ — comments on Daily Tip threads, replies, reports, imported AI Coach context, match journal entries shared into community features, and any future community surface added to the app.
CourtIQ is a small app run by an individual developer in Ireland. We want the community to feel like a focused tennis lounge — direct, helpful, opinionated, and free of the noise that ruins most sports forums. This policy explains what we expect, what we don’t allow, and how reports are handled.
1. Our short version
Be useful to other tennis players. Don’t make CourtIQ a place where someone wouldn’t feel safe sharing their match journal.
2. What is not allowed
The following content will be removed and the posting account may be restricted, suspended, or terminated, at our discretion:
- Harassment, threats, or targeted intimidation of any user, coach, official, or third party.
- Hate speech — content that attacks or demeans a person or group based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, or serious medical condition.
- Sexual content of any kind, including suggestive content directed at minors.
- Defamation — false statements of fact presented as truth about an identifiable person, coach, club, federation, sponsor, or pro player.
- Doxxing — sharing private information (home address, phone number, employer, school) about another person without their consent.
- Spam, scams, fraud, or undisclosed paid promotion.
- Violence, incitement, or instructions for harm — including self-harm, suicide content, or instructions for making weapons.
- Illegal content — including but not limited to copyright/trademark infringement, child sexual abuse material (CSAM), drug trafficking, or content that violates Irish or EU law.
- Off-topic spam — content that is not about tennis, training, mobility, the user’s own game, or the prompt being responded to.
- Impersonation of another user, real-world person, brand, or organisation.
- Misuse of the AI Coach — pasting copyrighted material in bulk, attempting to break the model’s safety rules, or using imported-context to attempt to host unrelated chatbot behaviour inside CourtIQ.
This list is not exhaustive. We may act against any content or behaviour that materially harms other users, the integrity of the platform, or the developer’s ability to keep CourtIQ online.
3. What is allowed (and welcomed)
- Strong opinions about tactics, drills, pro players, equipment, and coaching philosophy.
- Disagreeing with another user respectfully.
- Sharing your own data, ratings, and reflections, even when they’re unflattering to you.
- Asking questions that may sound basic.
- Posting in either English or Turkish (the two languages CourtIQ supports). Other languages are not blocked but may be harder for the community to engage with.
4. How to report
If you see content that violates this policy:
- In-app: tap ⋯ on the comment, choose Report, and pick a reason. Your report is sent to the developer along with the content snapshot and your anonymous user ID.
- By email: send the offending content + a short description to moderation@courtiq.app (or, until the alias is configured, canayan93@gmail.com with subject “CourtIQ Moderation”).
Reporters are not exposed to the reported user. The reported user is not told who reported them.
5. Response time
We aim to acknowledge and act on reports within 24 hours during normal weeks, and within 72 hours during European holiday periods. This is a target, not a contractual guarantee — CourtIQ is currently run by one person.
Actions we may take, in escalating severity:
- Soft note — a private in-app message asking the user to edit or remove a comment.
- Content removal — the comment is hidden from the public thread and replaced with a “removed by moderator” placeholder.
- Temporary restriction — the user can read but not post for 7–30 days.
- Account termination — the user’s CourtIQ account is closed and they are blocked from creating a new one. Their local app data is unaffected.
- Legal escalation — for content that is illegal under Irish or EU law (CSAM, credible threats of violence, terrorism), we report to An Garda Síochána or the relevant authority and preserve evidence.
6. Appeals
If your content was removed or your account was restricted and you believe the decision was wrong:
- Email moderation@courtiq.app with the subject “Appeal” and explain what you believe is incorrect.
- We will respond within 7 days, either reversing the decision or explaining why we maintain it.
- If you still disagree, you may contact the Irish Data Protection Commission (for privacy-related concerns) or seek independent legal advice. Our decision is otherwise final for the purposes of CourtIQ’s internal moderation.
7. Copyright (DMCA-equivalent) takedowns
If you believe content posted in CourtIQ infringes your copyright:
- Send a notice to legal@courtiq.app (or canayan93@gmail.com subject “CourtIQ Copyright”) including:
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim is being infringed.
- Identification of the specific content (thread/comment ID, screenshot, or URL) you want removed.
- Your contact information (name, email, postal address).
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you are the rights holder or are authorised to act for them.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- We will remove or disable access to the content within 5 business days while we investigate.
- The user who posted the content will be notified and given an opportunity to submit a counter-notice. If they do, we may restore the content unless you initiate legal proceedings within 14 days.
8. Imported AI Coach context
The “Import from ChatGPT” feature pastes your previous AI chats into the CourtIQ AI Coach context. The same content rules apply to what you paste:
- Don’t paste content that violates Section 2.
- Don’t paste copyrighted material (books, articles, song lyrics, code) in bulk — only your own tennis context.
- Don’t paste personal information about other people without their consent.
Imported content is server-side sanitised (length-capped + injection-pattern stripped + banned-content filtered) before being sent to the AI model. Pastes that fail moderation will be silently dropped from the AI’s context.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the community grows, as the law changes, or as we encounter new abuse patterns. Material changes will be announced in the in-app What’s New section. The “Last updated” date at the top of this document always reflects the current version.
